Tis the Season to be Studying~

CBP1054531_Veer Prayer Before an Exam

O wise God, I pray that my mind might be rested, my body energized, and my spirit inspired for the exam I must write.

Grant me peace and assurance so that I might do the best I am able, regardless of what that might be.

Be with my fellow students and may I be a good example to them, offering reassurance and confidence regardless of how I feel.

May I be honest and insightful, and able to give a true record of what I have learned. In the end, may any disappointment be born with grace, and any joy accompanied with humility.

Be with me in this exam, O Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

This the Season to be Jolly

Yes it’s the hols again and it’s fabulous! Are you all studying? Perhaps catching up on assignments? Well I’m doing neither which is why I’m writing this. Shame on me right?

Yeah. And talking to many online. Something I’ve not done in such a long time. I was prompted to quote Proverbs in response to something which was discussed.

Proverbs 13:4 (New King James Version)

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing;
      But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

I mean, the verse carries a very close to home truth. One always wishes to have this. Oh I wish to have a meal at Paddington House of Pancakes. Or Yeer I wannt that phone.

But all that will only be desires if a person does not like generate life to bring that from dream reality.

Are we merely desiring these holidays? What are your wants? Are they to come to pass?

We decide.

PKV membership list!

I've just finished preparing a list of registered members (1) of PKV few minutes ago as to fulfill one of the requirement of the application of our upcoming annual general meeting(2)(3). A simple task, yet it stirred up so much emotions from my heart.

(1) Registered members are those that have filled in the official membership form from HEP. If you're interested, catch me during PKV meetings for the form! :)
(2) Yes! AGM is happening this coming 17 October, so mark that date down! :)
(3) In case u don't know, i'm serving as the secretary of PKV and this is the last month i'm holding the portfolio :P

First, i deleted the name of the graduated seniors. I did it with a heavy heart. They are no longer part of PKV, but they are still, and always be part of the hearts of PKV-ians whom they had touched. Memories flashed in my mind, all the wonderful times we've spent together, the timely encouragements that we exchanged. I can almost see myself, back then, an innocent freshie, looking up and admiring their 'wisdom'(haha..) and never fail to run to them when problems strike (even a tiny one like didn't manage to open the peanut butter jar :P). I can still remember Ivan's and Cheffrost's baby T, Kok How's and Victor's 'waliao' , Sze Meun's 'Jeng jeng jeng...' and many more! Each of them has left a legacy in different wonderful ways, and as time change the pampered junior into a final year student that complains much about the academic workloads, I realized that it is the kindness that i've received that keeps me on in doing some things that I will diligently do or at least try my very best to do for my juniors.

Then, i added new names of the freshies! It is so exciting to see new faces joining the fellowship, actively participating and willingly serving. I have to admit that i do not know the juniors this year very well, but seeing them being so energetic and passionate for God just make me glad, and i'm anticipating God doing great things through the new generation! So, juniors, do talk to me when u see me next time, i can be quite shy sometimes :P haha

Next, i encountered the names of the people who haven't been coming to PKV for sometimes. It is the hardest to decide whether i should keep their name in the list. Of course, as a christian fellowship, we'll never shut the door against them, but do they still consider themselves part of PKV? People left for various reasons, some left because of personal commitments, some, relational problems. It particularly hurts me to think about all the misunderstandings, disagreements and backbitings that had taken place, it hurts me more to be reminded of the friendships that we once shared. Is there a day, when we can give each other another chance? Is there a day, when we'll forgive ourselves and the other? Is there a day, when we can come together and take the ownership of PKV to make it better?

As i type in the new names, i realized many names that i don't know many of them! They don't seem to come to PKV at all! Maybe they came once and left, why? Maybe, they only came to the exhibition booth but never make it to PKV meetings, why again? They are around campus, but where exactly are they? Do we do enough to be a friend?

I don't write all these to condemn, because if i do, i'm condemning myself too. I don't know how to do this, but let us allow God to change us, so that we'll be the change.

I love u all!

-Ai Wei

What will we do with our life on earth? What will we do in these closing days of Ramadhan?

Remember last year, when we came to seek God together at the end of the semester?

As our Muslim brothers and sisters observe the final days of this holy month of purification and renewing of devotion, let us also COME TOGETHER...

IMHO

Dear friends, it is only but the last few meetings of the semester. the end of our session for this semester is already near. how time flies when we're enjoying ourselves.

Perhaps it's time to then think about the things that we have come to discover this semester.
For every semester is a lesson one way or another. What have you achieved this semester? What were you goals and did you achieve them? What relationships have you built upon? (for the one thing that will last you a life time, way beyond the years of university and work is friendships. spend time building them. starting now is never too late.)

Today's viewing of Amazing Grace really brought about a thought in me as I wasdriving out to Sc Fac Cafe from the Geo Centre.

My self told me: "I want to do something great like him too. Something that I will be able to go to sleep thinking. Yes this was the difference I have made. I don't want to waste my life away."

And we all know that God given word:

Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version)
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

A great plan for our lives is an affirmative sure. Beyond our wildest imaginations.

What then, are you waiting for?

The Mix

And so international cultural day has just passed with an amazing display of the various cultures from all around the world. Our university is rich with it and the beauty of such diversity to be able to live together and work together and accept one another is just breath taking. The diversity and differences brought together because we are all under the same family. Christ as the head.

And even for those who do not believe.

Pictures are coming up soon.

Many thanks to those who came and especially those who dressed up for the occasion.

Does anyone know what time Captain Ball on the 20th start?

Owh you mean you didn't know there was captain bal? ASK YOUR CG leader weih!

There is a picture

There is a picture that seems almost complete to me. When I first saw it I was totally captured by the honesty and the sincerity of every person in the composition who was captured with the simplicity of a genuine emotion displayed at the right time, in the 'beautiful' mix it is.

Thanks Tim Cheng..

AEROBICS 2008/2009 (HIP HOP COMBAT JAM ! HEARTBEAT FOR YOU…)

Dear PKVians,

-As Malaysia's National Day draws nearer, the idea is to lay aside our
differences, COME TOGETHER and BUILD EACH OTHER via aerobics.

-Basically, it's an aerobics event, with hip hop and body combat moves.

-It’s evangelistic, in the sense that we’re using Christian music, and reaching out to non-believers by just being a friend.
-Sometimes, all we have to do as Christians, is to be REAL friends. Action speaks louder than words.

-ALL Malaysians and International students are invited.
-FREE admission =)

-Tentative flow of the event is as follows:
4.45-5.00pm: Registration
5.00-5.15pm: Consent form distribution and collection
5.15-6.00pm: Aerobics
6.00-6.40pm: Dinner (optional)

-Details for the event:
Date: 27.08.2008 (Wednesday)
Time: 4.45-6.40pm
Venue: Gazebo, Kompleks Perdana Siswa(KPS)

-Do invite your friends, irrespective of their race and nationality,
ya. ~The more, the merrier (",)

-Be PUNCTUAL to ensure a smooth flow of the event.

-For transportation, please contact
Kathleen (012 580 0431) or Swee Meng (012 588 9396).

-As for further enquiries, do contact Gabriel (017 434 9709), or
me(0175395110) .

-Prayer requests:
Do pray for- good weather;
- smooth flow of event;
- our non-Christian friends whom we want to invite
~that they'll be open and join us;
- wisdom
~to answer whatever questions that might be raised by
non-believers anytime, anywhere;
- ourselves, as we juggle between studies, college
activities, PKV activities, and church events.

-Hope to see you there! =)

OHANA

I believe that it was by no coincidence that i talked to a brother about my current struggles with God after last friday's PKV meeting, when the 'OHANA' concept was introduced and discussed. In fact, it is a humbling experience for me (and i thanked God for that) that as i recently talked to a few ppl about my feelings and doubts in this where-r-u-God phase of my life, i got many silent nods in agreement instead of the strong-to-weak counseling. To my amazement they frankly admit that they are also having struggles and questions for God, juggling between feelings and rationals in the matter of faith, and making sense of their personal lives in God.

*as i'm writing this down, i'm listening to Petra's 'Beyond Belief'. Funny.

There's a higher place to go, beyond belief, beyond belief
Where we reach the next plateau, beyond belief, beyond belief
And from faith to faith we grow Towards the center of the flow
Where He beckons us to go, beyond belief, beyond belief

One thing that Sui Jade shared in PKV meeting that striked me was that fellowship doesn't equal to friend. It's more than that! We choose our friend, but do we choose our family? No! For many of us we'd hoped that we could convince ourselves that we don't have to be committed to the fellowship of the family of God. But i don't have to like you or be like you to be in the same family as u. I don't even have to agree with u. Yet many times we naturally cliqued with those we're comfortable with and avoid those we're not. It is indeed a challenge to treat every relationships in the house of God like a spiritual gift.

It was humbling for me because i always thought that i am alone in this spiritual battle. Yet what was more humbling was that God had sent ppl that i wasn't close with and i had least expected to minister to me.

The most wonderful thing is that OHANA doesn't end here. In fact it is the precursor to 'The Great Commission'. It is the prerequisite for reaching out and shine for Him. For God establish His Kingdom in His family. And it is up to us to respond to the challenge and live up to the call.

'Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.' Hebrews 10: 23-25
